Why we love Oceania Cruises
We hate to play favorites, but Oceania is at the tippy top of our ‘favorite cruise line’ list. If you’re a cruise connoisseur who’s been on many cruises, even the most luxurious lines, you’ll really appreciate Oceania. It’s large enough to be lively but small enough to feel exclusive. Once our clients try Oceania, they usually stick with Oceania thereafter.
The cruise cabins are an average 50% larger than other cruise lines and the food is the best in the entire cruise industry.
Oceania is a ‘relaxed’ luxury cruise line with mid-sized ships that do mostly longer voyages from 10 to 24 days.
Although it is not all-inclusive like the most expensive cruise lines of all (Silver Sea, Seabourn, Sea Dream and Crystal), it is at the very top of the non-inclusive category.
What does your ‘luxury lite’ Oceania cruise include?
Although the price of your Oceania cruise does not include alcohol, unlike most lines, Oceania’s rates do include free and unlimited soft drinks, bottled water, cappuccino, espresso tea, and juices. However, a premium drink package that includes beer, wine, and top-shelf brand spirits can be purchased for a mere $59.95 per person. On most cruise lines a premium package can cost $90 per person, per day.
Oceania is known as a food and wine connoisseurs’ cruise line.
Its executive culinary director is none other than the renowned master chef Jacques Pepin! Oceania’s culinary goal is “serving cuisine that is the finest at sea and even rivals the best restaurants ashore!” We feel they have achieved that standard. We always direct our pickiest foodie clients to an Oceania cruise.
Marina and Riviera were purpose-built for epicureans. They each offer over 10 dining venues, which is more than any other premium or luxury vessel sailing today.
In January 2016 Oceania announced an extensive new menu rollout featuring 85 new dishes the fleet will incorporate over the next few months. New creations and ingredients include roast Segovia suckling pig, 3 new lobster dishes, Castilla-La Mancha saffron, Lessantini olive oil and Iberico de Bellota pork.
Oceania’s grand dining rooms are evocative of Europe’s grandest hotels; tuxedo-clad wait staff graciously serve course after course…
Oceania’s Cruise Ships: Sirena, Riviera, Marina, Regatta, Nautica and Insignia
Oceania’s 6th ship, Insignia (sister ship to the Regatta and Nautica), was charted to Hapag-Lloyd of Germany for two years but rejoined the fleet in 2016.
Oceania’s two newest ships are called “O Class”: Riviera built in 2012 and the Marina built in 2011. Both are 66,000 tons, hold 1200 passengers. Almost all 600 cabins are balcony cabins. The Marina was named “2011 Ship of the Year” by Ocean and Cruise News magazine.
While the Regatta and Nautica are mid to small-sized ships, they still offer all the amenities of a large ship: four open-seating restaurants, bars, lounges, Internet center, casino, disco, outdoor pool, fitness center, jogging track, beauty salon and full-service Canyon Ranch spa club.
The Sirena, a sister ship to the Regatta and Nautica was refurbished and added to the fleet in 2017.
All cabins on the Sirena include ULTRA TRANQUILITY BEDS:
- Custom-designed mattress featuring 3,000 encapsulated micro-springs, which ensures a peaceful night’s sleep with zero noise upon movement
- Quilted with advanced silver-threaded fabric and specially-designed thermo-fiber for luxurious comfort
- Plush down comforter
- Hand-quilted throws
Oceania’s Cooking School at Sea and Culinary Enrichment Program
Established in partnership with the team at Bon Appétit magazine, the culinary centers aboard Marina and Riviera are the only cooking schools at sea.
Catering to all culinary skill levels, from beginner to master chef, the Bon Appétit Culinary Centers feature 24 fully-equipped professional workstations and afford guests the opportunity to gain hands-on cooking experience in a range of innovative classes.
With the launch of Riviera in May 2012, Oceania Cruises expanded its culinary enrichment program with the introduction of Culinary Discovery ToursTM to more than 25 ports worldwide. Uniquely designed for each port, the tours provide guests with the opportunity to explore local food markets in small groups side-by-side with an expert chef. On Riviera and Marina, the tours end with a hands-on cooking class in
the Bon Appétit Culinary Center highlighting regional specialties.
In April 2010 Oceania announced a partnership with Wine Spectator magazine for La Reserve, an intimate venue, seating only 24, on Marina and Riviera that hosts wine tastings and food pairings with rare vintages selected in consultation with the magazine’s editors.
