Military and Veteran Discounts on Panama Canal Cruises

Does Military Cruise Deals Offer a Military Discount on Panama Canal Cruises? YES!

A Panama Canal cruise is one of the great bucket-list trips. Your ship is lifted 85 feet above sea level, sails across a rainforest lake, and is lowered back down to a whole different ocean.

And when you book with us, you get a real military and veteran discount on every Panama Canal cruise — on every cruise line that sails through it.

We’ve been booking cruises for military families since 2001. When you call us, you talk to a real cruise expert — not a call center — who knows the ships, the cabins, the itineraries and the difference between a full and a partial transit.

Why Military and Veteran Families Book Panama Canal Cruises With Military Cruise Deals

You served. Now let us take care of you. Here’s what you get when you book your Panama Canal cruise with us:

We pay for your military discount.
Most “military discounts” are just a cruise line’s sale price with a new label. Ours comes out of our own commission — on top of the cruise line’s lowest price. That’s our way of saying thank you for your service.

Bring everyone you love.
Your service earns the discount for everyone traveling with you — your spouse, kids, grandkids and friends — even in separate cabins. One veteran, and the whole group saves.

You’ll never wonder if you overpaid.
Our Price Drop Tracker is technology we pay a lot for, so you don’t have to. It shows the biggest cruise price drops the moment they happen. It’s completely free to you.

We keep working for you after you book.
Most agencies stop paying attention once you pay your deposit. We don’t. We pay for price-monitoring technology that keeps checking your rate all the way until final payment. If your price drops, we ask the cruise line to re-fare you, upgrade you or give you onboard credit.

More vacation for the same money.
On many Panama Canal sailings, we add extras like Distinctive Voyages, special amenities and onboard credit.

No fees. No surprises.
We never charge you a fee to book, change or cancel your cruise. (The cruise line’s own cancellation penalties still apply.)

Real cruise experts — not a call center.
Since 2001, we’ve helped military families plan their cruises. The Panama Canal has a lot of choices — full transit or partial, big ship or small, one-way or round trip, Florida or California. We’ll help you sort it out.

What it adds up to: on an $8,000 Panama Canal cruise, our military discount saves you at least $400. Add perks like onboard credit, and that’s real money back in your pocket. If the price drops after you book and we re-fare you, you can save even more.

You’ve earned the best deal on your cruise. We make sure you get it — before you book, after you book, and every day until you sail.

Most Panama Canal cruises sail from about September through May. Each link shows every sailing from September through May of that season.

We monitor your rate for price drops! We maximize your military discount on Panama Canal cruises even after you book!

Between the time you book your Panama Canal cruise and your final payment date, we keep watching the cruise line’s rates.

If the price drops, we contact the cruise line and ask them to re-fare your cruise to the lower rate, upgrade you to a better cabin, or give you onboard credit for the difference.

Cruise lines don’t always say yes, but we always try. Cruise lines will not re-fare after the final payment date, and some non-refundable fares don’t allow fare changes after booking.

Panama Canal Cruise Price Drop Tracker — Exclusive from Military Cruise Deals

Our exclusive Military Cruise Deals Price Drop Tracker shows the biggest cruise price drops the moment they happen.

Panama Canal cruises are often repositioning voyages, and those can drop in price fast. The tracker helps you spot a real deal and book at the right time.

(It takes a few seconds to load, because it’s scanning the rates for future cruises and calculating recent price drops!)

Who Qualifies for Our Military and Veteran Discount on Panama Canal Cruises?

Active-duty military, retired military, ALL veterans, and ALL spouses.

Every spouse qualifies, no matter the status of the military member — even if you’re divorced.

AND all friends and family traveling with them, even when they are not in the same cabin.

That means everyone in your group gets our military discount on your Panama Canal cruise.

How much is our military discount on Panama Canal cruises?

Some cruise lines that sail the Panama Canal have a military rate of their own, and many don’t.

Either way, we take the lowest fare the cruise line offers and add our military discount on top. That’s always at least 5% off the cruise fare. Many Panama Canal sailings also get extra perks like Distinctive Voyages, special amenities and onboard credit. Our price is lower than the cruise line’s lowest rate — 100% of the time, guaranteed.

Here’s how much you can save when you book with us:

  • A cabin total of $4,000 — you save at least $200.
  • A cabin total of $8,000 — you save at least $400.
  • A cabin total of $15,000 — you save at least $750.

And remember — our military discount applies to everyone traveling with the military member or veteran, even in separate cabins.

Full Transit or Partial Transit? Choosing Your Panama Canal Cruise

Full transit (ocean to ocean). Your ship sails the whole 50-mile canal, from the Atlantic side to the Pacific side or the other way around. You ride up through the Gatun Locks, cross Gatun Lake, pass through the Culebra Cut, and ride down through the Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks. The crossing takes most of a day. Most full-transit cruises are one-way, between Fort Lauderdale or Miami and Los Angeles or San Diego, and run about two weeks.

Partial transit. Your ship enters the canal from the Caribbean side, rises through the Gatun Locks into Gatun Lake, then turns around and goes back out. You still get the thrill of the locks, on a shorter, often round-trip cruise.

Start or end in Panama or Costa Rica. Shorter one-way cruises begin or end in Colón or Panama City, or in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. You fly one way and spend your whole vacation in the tropics.

Go big. Longer voyages of 25 days or more combine the canal with South America, Hawaii or a full world cruise. See our military discount on world cruises.

Big ship or small ship? Big-ship lines like Princess, Holland America, Cunard, Celebrity, Norwegian, MSC, Royal Caribbean and Carnival have the most sailings and the lowest fares. Small ships from Windstar, Seabourn, Ponant, Silversea, Oceania, Explora Journeys and Azamara add more time in small Central American ports. For nature and wildlife, National Geographic-Lindblad combines the canal with Costa Rica and Panama’s rainforests.

When Is the Best Time to Cruise the Panama Canal?

Most Panama Canal cruises sail from about September through May, when ships move between the Caribbean, Alaska and Europe.

December through April: Panama’s dry season — the sunniest weather and the most popular time to go. Holiday sailings book up early. See 2026–2027 season sailings.

September through November, and April through May: Repositioning season, when ships sail between Florida and the West Coast. These one-way voyages are often some of the best values of the year. Planning ahead? See 2027–2028 season sailings.

Expect hot, humid weather any time of year. Bring sunscreen, a hat and binoculars — and get out on deck early on canal day to save a good spot at the rail.

The Panama Canal’s American Military History

For veterans, a Panama Canal cruise is more than a pretty view. It’s a piece of American military history.

The United States built the canal from 1904 to 1914. The chief engineer was an Army officer, Colonel George W. Goethals of the Army Corps of Engineers, and Army doctor William C. Gorgas led the fight against yellow fever and malaria that made the work possible. The canal opened on August 15, 1914.

For most of the 20th century, American troops served in the Canal Zone — at bases like Howard Air Force Base, Fort Clayton, Rodman Naval Station and Fort Sherman, home of the Army’s jungle warfare school. Many of our customers served there, or were born there.

The United States handed the canal over to Panama on December 31, 1999. In 2016, Panama opened a new, larger set of locks for today’s biggest ships.

As your ship rises through the locks, you’ll be riding the same steps that American soldiers, engineers and workers built more than 100 years ago.
