Quick answer: Viking does not offer its own military or veteran discount — but Military Cruise Deals does.
We take a real military and veteran discount off every Viking cruise — Viking River, Viking Ocean, Viking Expeditions and the Viking Mississippi — always at least 5% off the cruise fare, taken off Viking’s lowest price and added on top of Viking’s current sales.
On a Viking river cruise that usually means $500 to $1,000 in savings. Active duty, retirees, ALL veterans, ALL military and veteran spouses (even if divorced) and everyone traveling with them qualify.
Also, we track all the secret codes Viking puts out and we will attempt to apply all those to your booking, which may add additional perks like onboard credit, a drink package, upgrade etc.
They are ‘secret’ as Viking will NOT tell you about them. You have tell them an exact code.
There are no booking fees. Call 866-964-5482.
You’re in the right place for the best Viking military discount, for veterans and active duty, on Viking river cruises, Viking ocean cruises and Viking expeditions.
Viking’s sale prices are the same for everyone. What makes our price lower is our own military discount, which comes out of our commission and is added on top of whatever Viking is offering that day.
We have been booking cruises for military families since 2001 — over 26 years — with an A+ BBB rating and 1,500+ reviews. And when you call, you talk to the owners, not a call center.

How Much Is Our Viking Military and Veteran Discount?
Our discount is always at least 5% off the cruise fare, on every Viking sailing, no matter what.
On a Viking river cruise, that usually works out to $500 to $1,000 in savings for a couple. On longer Viking ocean voyages and world cruises, the savings can be much larger.
It is taken off Viking’s lowest available price — including Viking’s current sale — so you get Viking’s best deal plus our discount.
Does Viking Offer a Military or Veteran Discount?
No. Viking does not offer a public military or veteran discount.
Viking also runs secret “ask for the code” sales — but Viking will NOT give you those codes, and neither will American Forces Travel. We will.
That’s why we created our own. When you book Viking with Military Cruise Deals, you get Viking’s current sale and our military and veteran discount on top.
If Viking gave you a specific offer code, we can apply it for you, then stack our discount on top. We keep a running list of every Viking code on our Viking Discount Codes page.

Prefer to put your cruise on hold with Viking first? Here’s how to get a military discount on a Viking cruise, step by step.
Viking River Cruises: The Longships
Viking’s Longships carry about 190 guests and sail the Rhine, Danube, Main, Moselle, Seine, Rhône, Douro, Elbe and more. Every stateroom faces the river, and the Aquavit Terrace at the bow is one of the best spots on any river ship.
The newer Longships are gorgeous — the design and decor are sleek and contemporary. Viking is worth paying for, and it will live up to your expectations.
Viking also sails the Nile in Egypt and the Mekong in Asia, and the Viking Mississippi sails America’s great river from New Orleans to St. Paul.
For Veterans, Viking’s Rhine and Danube voyages pair well with World War II history. See our WWII history river cruises and Normandy D-Day river cruises.
Viking Ocean Cruises
Viking’s ocean ships carry about 998 guests, all in staterooms with a private veranda. There are no casinos, no kids under 18 and no nickel-and-diming — just a calm, Scandinavian-style ship built around the destination.
Viking Ocean sails Europe, the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Alaska, Asia, Australia and beyond — plus Viking’s famous World Cruise.
Viking Expeditions
Viking’s expedition ships, Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris, sail to Antarctica, the Arctic, South America and the Great Lakes. They carry small groups, with Zodiacs, kayaks and a team of scientists and expedition leaders on board.
Our military discount applies to Viking Expeditions too.
On board, the Hangar lets you launch Zodiacs and kayaks right from inside the ship, the Explorers Lounge looks straight out over the ice, and the Finse Terrace has outdoor lounges with fire pits. On the Great Lakes, Viking’s expedition ships sail right through America’s heartland.
What’s Included on Every Viking Cruise

- Wine, beer and soft drinks with onboard lunch and dinner
- Wi-Fi
- Port charges and government taxes
- Specialty restaurants at no extra charge (ocean ships)

Does the discount work on Viking Ocean and Viking Expeditions?
Yes. Our discount applies to every Viking cruise — river, ocean, expedition and the Viking Mississippi.
Can the military discount be combined with Viking’s sales and offer codes?
Yes. We give you Viking’s secret offer codes — which Viking and American Forces Travel will not give you — apply them for you, then take our military discount off on top.

American Forces Travel does not give a military discount of its own on Viking — any sale you see there is Viking’s. Its onboard credit is only on select sailings. Our military discount applies to every Viking sailing.

Active duty, retired military, ALL veterans and ALL military and veteran spouses (even if divorced) — plus friends and family traveling with them, even in separate cabins.
I already booked Viking directly. Can I still get the discount?

Our military discount applies to every river cruise line:
- Military discounts on all river cruises
- AmaWaterways military discount
