How Does Celestyal Compare to Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Other Major Lines?

Celestyal’s smaller all-inclusive ships give families a boutique experience for a fraction of the price of larger lines. The cruise fare includes gratuities, alcoholic beverages (non-top-shelf), and shore excursions — 3 excursions on 7-day cruises and 2 excursions on 3–4-day cruises. The foundation of the company’s philosophy is the destination: Celestyal integrates authentic local experiences throughout the voyage so passengers truly live, feel, and taste each region.

Review From Alison’s Celestyal Trip to Cuba

(Note: Celestyal’s Greek Islands itineraries will be more Greece-focused than this Cuba review, but it gives a good sense of the cruise line’s style.)

Highlights: Amazing rear-facing deck with hot tub, bar, and cigars; ship stocks authentic Cuban products (Bucanero beer, Havana Club rum, Cohiba cigars); great friendly staff; Cuban trio musicians throughout the ship; lectures on Cuban culture from University of Havana professors; most shore excursions included; all-inclusive drink package; new buses with A/C for excursions; ship circles the entire island.

Watch-outs: Embarkation in Jamaica rather than Florida; ship décor a bit dated; food is European-style (good, just different); older crowd onboard.
